STILLWATERSean Sutton’s preliminary hearing on felony drug charges was postponed Monday.

The former Oklahoma State University men’s basketball coach is now set to appear June 7 in Payne County District Court.

A judge granted the postponement at the request of Sutton’s defense attorney, Trace Morgan, who did not return calls seeking comment.

Sutton, 41, was charged in February with four felonies in connection with alleged attempts to illegally obtain pharmaceutical drugs. Upon his arrest, Sutton said he was addicted to painkillers, according to court records.

Sutton entered an addiction treatment center in Tulsa after his arrest.

Sutton was named men’s basketball coach at OSU in 2006 after his father, Eddie Sutton, resigned following a drunken driving incident.

Sean Sutton hasn’t returned to coaching since being fired in 2008 following two disappointing seasons. He lives in Stillwater.
